Troubleshooting & Common Errors

1. How do I solve the 'RATE_LIMITED' or HTTP 429 error?

This error means Instagram has temporarily restricted request frequency. The Extension is built with a smart auto-cooldown scheduler:

  • On the first limit, the task pauses for a 15-minute cooldown automatically.
  • If limited again, it cools down for 30 minutes.
  • You can safely leave the browser tab open; it will auto-resume after the countdown finishes. You can also export your already retrieved profiles at any time.

2. What should I do for 'AUTH_REQUIRED' or Login Errors?

The Extension utilizes your active browser cookies on Instagram to run. If your session expires or Instagram requests verification:

  1. Open a new browser tab and visit instagram.com.
  2. Make sure you are logged in. If Instagram prompts a checkpoint security challenge (like sending an SMS code), please complete it in the browser.
  3. Reopen the Extension Side Panel, and click "Resume" to continue your export task.

3. Why did the Extension stop running when I closed the panel?

By design, Chrome extensions run tasks inside active process cycles. If you completely close the Chrome window or log off, Chrome might sleep the Extension.

Solution: You do not need to worry about losing data. Simply reopen the Extension on your Chrome browser, and click "Resume previous task" on the homepage. It will pick up from the exact last saved cursor in IndexedDB.

4. Why does the spreadsheet file show scrambled text?

Our tool exports CSV files in UTF-8 with a Byte Order Mark (BOM) to correctly support multilingual characters and emojis. If Excel still displays it incorrectly:

Open Excel, go to Data > Get Data > From Text/CSV, select your file, set the File Origin to 65001: Unicode (UTF-8), and click Load. Alternatively, you can directly download the native Excel (.xlsx) format from our Extension.
